Some things you really need to insist on.

Recently, a friend asked me if I would still study after work. I said of course I have to study. The nature of the industry requires it. How can I succeed without studying? In my opinion, not studying professional knowledge means that I am not growing. After all, most of the time during work is spent on daily tasks. Only the time after work can be used to improve oneself.

The reality is that in the past month, I have spent more time on my phone, less time researching technology, slept late more often, and woke up early less often. Time and energy are limited. When you spend all your time on unimportant things, you don't have the energy to do other things.

You should know that it is very difficult to persist in something for a long time, while giving up something only requires a few lazy moments, a few moments of comfort, to destroy the established routine. How to persist in something for a long time depends on the formation of habits. For example, due to the pandemic, develop the good habit of washing hands frequently. Whether it's coming home from work or going to the office, the first thing you do is wash your hands and then do other things. When a normal thing becomes a habit, you can unconsciously complete it without considering whether or not to do it.

I used to think that self-discipline was a very simple thing, but in the specific practice, I encountered many difficulties. Very few people can truly achieve absolute self-discipline, at least among my friends and colleagues, including myself. Self-discipline is not just about persistence, but stricter self-management than persistence. It is not only about managing time, but also managing one's own state of life.

When you find reasons not to do something, under the influence of psychological suggestion, you will try to give up that thing. What follows is accepting a series of brain-friendly things, such as browsing Weibo, watching short videos, and other thoughtless activities. These things require no thinking and are easier for the brain to accept. Naturally, in the subconscious, you will not do other time-consuming and laborious things.

When you do something, you should not only consider your time schedule, but also when to do it, how long you can persist in doing it, how long it takes to see results, and the methods of doing it. All of these need to be considered, otherwise it may just be a simple attempt at self-discipline without truly being self-disciplined.

That's all I have to say for now. These are my recent insights. Some things really require persistence. Let's try to persist in something for the long term.
